Pierce Butler Scholarship

Offered by Phi Kappa Psi Minnesota Beta Chapter

About this scholarship

The Pierce Butler Scholarship recognizes five incoming freshman men at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities for merit in the classroom and service or leadership in their communities. Phi Kappa Psi’s Minnesota Beta Chapter administers the annual program in memory of Pierce Butler, a former University of Minnesota Regent and U.S. Supreme Court justice. Applying does not require a student to join Phi Kappa Psi or make any commitment to the fraternity. The initial review is intentionally name-blind: alumni and undergraduate reviewers assess the submitted materials without seeing applicants’ names until the interview stage. Selected finalists participate in interviews during the summer before their first year, after which the panel chooses five recipients. Each award is a one-time gift deposited into the student’s university account during the fall semester. The sponsor’s current page does not publish a guaranteed dollar amount or a fixed calendar deadline, so this listing does not repeat the unsupported $500 estimate shown by third-party directories. Applicants should complete the application from the official page as early as possible and contact the scholarship chair listed there if the embedded form or timing is unclear.
