Peter B. Orlik Award

Offered by Broadcast Education Association and the Peter B. Orlik Scholarship Endowment

About this scholarship

The Peter B. Orlik Award provides one $3,500 scholarship from the Peter B. Orlik Scholarship Endowment for study in any electronic-media area. It honors the longtime broadcast and cinematic arts educator and supports students who will be juniors, seniors, or graduate students during the 2027-2028 academic year. The student’s college or university must have at least one department that is an institutional member of the Broadcast Education Association. Students transferring from a two-year institution to a BEA-member four-year school may apply for undergraduate awards. Individual BEA membership is not an eligibility requirement, but applicants create a BEA profile before using the common online portal. That single submission automatically places the student under consideration for all qualifying BEA awards. Required materials include transcripts from every college attended, two recommendations on institutional or professional letterhead, academic and experience information, and a written statement of goals. One reference must be a college or university electronic-media professor; the second may be another professor or an industry professional. Scholarships cover the full academic year rather than a single semester and may be used only for qualifying charges to the student’s campus account. The complete application is due by 11:59 p.m. local time on October 16, 2026.
