Pepperdine Legacy Partners Helen Young Scholarship

About this scholarship

The Pepperdine Legacy Partners Helen Young Scholarship provides $5,000 annually to active Church of Christ members attending Pepperdine University’s Seaver College. Both men and women may apply. Incoming students first submit the general Pepperdine admission application, then use the Pepperdine Application Portal to complete the Helen Young Scholarship form and request a recommendation from a Church of Christ leader. The scholarship form, church recommendation, and FAFSA priority filing are due February 15. Admission itself is due November 1 for Early Action or January 15 for Regular Decision. A student who already submitted the required Church of Christ recommendation for Pepperdine’s Christian Leadership Award does not need a second church recommendation for Helen Young consideration. Recipients are expected to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, participate actively in a local Church of Christ congregation and campus ministry, and help with Pepperdine Legacy Partners events during the year. The award is renewable, but not automatic: students are encouraged to reapply during each application period and must continue meeting the scholarship agreement. Current Seaver sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are active Church of Christ members may also apply in the applicable annual period.

Eligibility

• Be a current, active member of a Church of Christ congregation
• Apply to or be enrolled in Pepperdine University’s Seaver College
• For incoming students, submit the admission application by November 1 for Early Action or January 15 for Regular Decision
• Submit the FAFSA by the February 15 priority deadline
• Submit the Helen Young Scholarship form and a Church of Christ leader recommendation through the Pepperdine portal by February 15
• Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA if selected
• Remain active in a local Church of Christ and Pepperdine campus ministry
• Help with Pepperdine Legacy Partners events and reapply for renewal as required
