Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

About this scholarship

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans will invest up to $90,000 over two years in each of 30 immigrants or children of immigrants pursuing graduate or professional education in the United States. Funding can include a stipend of up to $25,000 per year and 50 percent of tuition and eligible fees, up to $10,000 per semester or $6,667 per quarter. Applicants must be age 30 or younger at the deadline and satisfy the program’s detailed New American definition. Eligible immigrants include naturalized citizens, green-card holders, refugees, asylees, and people—including current or former DACA recipients—who were born abroad and graduated from both U.S. high school and college. U.S.-born applicants generally must be children of parents born abroad as noncitizens. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree by Fall 2027 and plan full-time enrollment in an accredited U.S. graduate or professional degree in 2027–28. An enrolled applicant cannot have begun the third year of the degree being funded by the deadline. The application requires education and New American background, a resume or CV, two essays, college and graduate transcripts, applicable admission-test scores, and three to five recommendations. The live 2027 portal closes October 29, 2026 at 2 p.m. Eastern, with no exceptions.

Eligibility

• Be age 30 or younger as of October 29, 2026
• Be an immigrant or the child of immigrants under the fellowship’s New American eligibility rules
• If born abroad, qualify as a naturalized citizen, green-card holder, refugee, asylee, adopted citizen, or graduate of both U.S. high school and college
• Have a bachelor’s degree by Fall 2027
• Plan full-time enrollment in an accredited graduate or professional degree program based in the United States for 2027–28
• If already enrolled in the degree being funded, not have started its third year by the application deadline
• Submit a resume or CV, two essays, required transcripts, and applicable admission-test scores
• Register three to five recommenders and ensure at least three recommendations are received
• Submit every application component online by October 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern
