Oregon Barber and Hairdresser Grant Program
Offered by Oregon Office of Student Access and Completion
About this scholarship
The Oregon Barber and Hairdresser Grant Program provides one-time, need-based grants to Oregon residents training in barbering, hair design, cosmetology, or manicure at participating Oregon schools. Award amounts and the number of recipients change each year because the program is funded by interest earned on a dedicated fund. Students do not submit a separate B&H grant application. Instead, they file the FAFSA and include the participating barber or beauty school they plan to attend, or file the ORSAA and work with Oregon Student Aid and the school. They must also tell the school that they want to be considered. The school must receive the student’s information by February 1 of the award year, then selects eligible recipients after OSAC reports how many grants and how much funding are available. Eligible programs must participate in federal Title IV aid and the B&H Grant Program, and students must enroll full time in training lasting at least nine months or 900 clock hours. The official page lists the participating schools and should be checked before filing because not every Oregon beauty school can award this grant.
