Ohio State Buckeye Opportunity Program

Offered by The Ohio State University

About this scholarship

The Ohio State Buckeye Opportunity Program is an automatic tuition guarantee for eligible Ohio residents attending any Ohio State campus. Rather than offering a fixed check, Ohio State combines the student’s federal, state, and university grants and adds enough institutional support to cover the remaining undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees. The program is specifically for Ohio resident undergraduates who qualify for a Federal Pell Grant and demonstrate significant financial need. It does not promise to cover housing, meals, books, transportation, personal expenses, or every component of the broader cost of attendance. There is no separate Buckeye Opportunity scholarship application or essay. Students must apply to and enroll at Ohio State, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, include Ohio State’s school code, and respond to any requests for financial-aid verification. Returning recipients must file the FAFSA again each year so the university can confirm continued Pell and need eligibility. Because the award is constructed from multiple aid sources, the precise Ohio State contribution varies by student, campus, tuition cohort, and other financial aid received.
