Ántonia Scholarship
Offered by National Willa Cather Center
About this scholarship
The Ántonia Scholarship is a nationwide $1,000 award for a graduating U.S. high-school senior who plans to major in English or history. It is administered by the National Willa Cather Center and named for the central character of Willa Cather’s novel “My Ántonia.” The selected student must be preparing to enter the first year of study at an accredited college or university. Selection is based on intellectual promise, creativity, and character, allowing applicants to demonstrate their interests and potential through the official form and written materials. The downloadable application requests the applicant’s background, school information, educational plans, activities, honors, employment, and supporting responses. Students should use the form linked directly from the Center’s page and comply with all listed delivery requirements. The deadline occurs annually on February 28, making February 28, 2027 the next deadline. Unlike the related Antonette Willa Skupa Turner Scholarship, the Ántonia award is not limited to Nebraska residents. It is nevertheless a distinct one-time award and requires the applicant to be a prospective English or history major. Applicants should not submit a generic inquiry to the organization; the official PDF is the direct application document.
