About this scholarship
The Nanyang President's Graduate Scholarship (NPGS) is Nanyang Technological University's most prestigious scholarship, designed to encourage outstanding graduates and final-year students to begin a leading research career through a full-time PhD at NTU in Singapore. The award covers the annual tuition fee and provides a monthly stipend, with Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions at the prevailing employer rate added on top, and recipients receive priority for campus accommodation. It is tenable for one year initially and renewable subject to good progress, up to a maximum of four years for PhD candidates, and carries no bond. Eligibility requires an Honours (Highest Distinction) or equivalent at bachelor's level (or, for those still studying, official confirmation they are on track for it); all nationalities may be considered, though preference is given to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. International students are required to carry out teaching or laboratory-supervision duties under the Graduate Assistantship Programme. Importantly, the NPGS is by nomination only — you cannot apply directly; outstanding candidates are nominated, then shortlisted applicants are invited to interview as part of the University's selection process.
Eligibility
- Hold (or be on track for) an Honours (Highest Distinction) or equivalent bachelor's degree
- Be pursuing a full-time PhD at NTU
- Be open to all nationalities (preference to Singapore Citizens/PRs)
- International students: undertake teaching/lab duties under the Graduate Assistantship Programme
- Be nominated (the scholarship is by nomination only) and attend an interview
