MYFA Legacy Scholarship
Offered by Metro Youth Football Association
About this scholarship
The Metro Youth Football Association will award four $1,500 MYFA Legacy Scholarships to students graduating in spring 2027. The program recognizes former MYFA tackle-football players who continue competing in high-school football and demonstrate sportsmanship, citizenship, moral character, leadership potential, and academic promise. Scholarship funds may support an apprenticeship, trade school, community college, four-year college, or university; payment depends on later proof of enrollment. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 and may not also receive MYFA’s John Pierce Memorial Scholarship. The official 2026–27 PDF asks for family and school information, MYFA teams and participation years, postsecondary plans, activities, and a typewritten essay of at least 100 words. Writers choose between explaining football’s impact or describing the qualities and experiences that make them a potential leader. To preserve blind review, the essay must not identify the student, coaches, school, playing position, or signature. One recommendation from a knowledgeable adult who is not a family member is also required. The completed form, essay, and letter must be mailed and postmarked by August 30, 2026.
