Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant

Offered by Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid

About this scholarship

The Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant is a state merit award for high-achieving Mississippi residents attending approved public or private nonprofit colleges and universities in the state. MESG provides up to $2,500 per academic year, limited to tuition and required fees, for as many as eight semesters or until degree completion. Entering freshmen must have lived legally in Mississippi for one year before high school or home-school completion, hold at least a 3.5 cumulative high school GPA, and earn a minimum 29 ACT or 1350 SAT; National Merit Finalists and Semifinalists can satisfy the test criterion. ACT superscores are accepted. A narrowly defined pathway also allows students with 12 to 18 completed college hours to apply within three years of high school graduation if they met every entering-freshman requirement and hold a 3.5 college GPA. Applicants must enroll full-time in a first certificate, associate, or bachelor's program at an approved Mississippi institution. The annual MAAPP application is due September 15, and requested supporting documents are due October 15. Renewal requires continuous full-time enrollment and a 3.5 cumulative college GPA.
