Ming Chen Foundation Scholarship
Offered by The Ming Chen Foundation
About this scholarship
The Ming Chen Foundation provides $2,000 scholarships for two closely related ophthalmology-training pathways in Honolulu, Hawaii. Qualified ophthalmology residents who hold an MD or DO may spend one week shadowing Ming Chen, MD, MSc, FACS. That experience includes real-world clinical exposure, observation of surgery using LenSx, ORA, and Verion technology with premium intraocular lenses, and an opportunity to participate in collaborative clinical research. The foundation also supports licensed doctors of osteopathic medicine through a one-month hands-on program in current medical and surgical eye care. That pathway normally includes two office half-days and one surgery half-day per week for four weeks and concludes with a certificate. The foundation states that its selection committee is reviewing applications and directs candidates to its dedicated Apply page. Recipients are chosen by the applicant's training-program director together with the foundation committee, with professional qualities such as integrity, compassion, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn informing the decision. Because the sponsor publishes no fixed deadline or guaranteed number of awards, this listing does not invent either one.
