Marshall Scholarship
Offered by British Government (Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission)
About this scholarship
The Marshall Scholarship, funded by the British Government, finances high-achieving young Americans to pursue graduate study at any university in the United Kingdom, commemorating the humane ideals of the Marshall Plan and strengthening the enduring relationship between the US and the UK. Up to 50 Scholars are selected each year. The award covers university fees, a living stipend, fares to and from the United States, and a range of grants such as book, thesis, research, and daily travel allowances, typically for one to two years of study toward a UK degree. The scholarship is open only to United States citizens who hold (or will hold) a first degree from an accredited four-year US college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale (rounded GPAs are not accepted). Applications are submitted through an online form and must be endorsed by the President, Provost, or Academic Dean of the applicant's undergraduate institution. Candidates apply in one of eight US regions — either where they permanently reside/work or where they study — and may apply in only one region. For the 2027 competition, the applicant deadline is 29 September 2026, with institutional endorsement due 1 October 2026.
