About this scholarship
The M. Verna Butterer Educational Trust provides substantial need-based education financing to Bucks County, Pennsylvania residents attending accredited postsecondary programs in the United States. Support can reach $16,000 per year for as many as four years, but applicants should understand the structure: one half is a scholarship and the other half is an interest-free loan. A recipient signs a promissory note each year and must repay the loan portion within five years after graduation or the final year of funding. The program accepts traditional and nontraditional students in colleges, universities, technical schools, nursing schools, graduate programs, doctoral programs, and other accredited post-high-school study. Applicants must have lived in Bucks County for at least one year, be U.S. citizens, demonstrate financial need, and enroll full time. Eligibility
- Be a United States citizen
- Have resided in Bucks County, Pennsylvania for at least one year
- Demonstrate financial need
- Enroll full time in an accredited post-high-school program in the United States
- Provide the FAFSA Submission Summary and Student Aid Index
- Provide three recommendations, a transcript, school cost and aid information, and the requested activities or service record
- Accept that half of each award is an interest-free loan documented by an annual promissory note
- Mail the completed application by March 15, 2027 rather than emailing attachments
