Lycoming County Medical Society Scholarship

Offered by Lycoming County Medical Society and The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society

About this scholarship

The Lycoming County Medical Society Scholarship offers two $7,500 awards for 2026-2027. Lycoming County physicians fund the scholarship, and The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society administers its current application. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who lived in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, for at least 12 months before registering as medical students. Time spent in Pennsylvania only to attend an undergraduate or graduate school does not count toward the residency requirement. Students may attend a fully accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school anywhere in the United States, provided they are enrolled full time. A person who received this scholarship in the immediately preceding year is not eligible for the current cycle. The dedicated online solicitation requires a completed form, two nonfamily reference letters addressing integrity, interpersonal skills, and potential as a future physician, and a school-letterhead letter confirming full-time enrollment. Applicants also submit an essay of no more than 750 words explaining why they chose to become physicians and the contributions they expect to make to the health profession. A personal interview is not normally required but may be requested. Applications are open July 1 through September 30, 2026, with decisions expected in November.
