Lucille Stoeppler Baker Memorial Scholarship

Offered by Historic Huguenot Street

About this scholarship

The Lucille Stoeppler Baker Memorial Scholarship provides one $1,500 award to a strong history or anthropology student whose work is enriched by the preservation and interpretation practiced at Historic Huguenot Street. Applicants must be majoring in history or anthropology and must have maintained an academic average above 3.5 for at least two years. The application should clearly connect the student’s course of study and goals to the preservation, research, and public interpretation of the HHS site and collections. The award produced by the 2026 competition will be applied to the spring 2027 semester. Historic Huguenot Street does not list Huguenot ancestry as a requirement for this scholarship, so the ancestry form is not part of its program-specific criteria. Applicants complete the official application form for the Lucille Stoeppler Baker award and assemble an official college or university transcript, two recommendations, and a statement of goals. One of the recommendations must be written by a college or university professor. Official records should be emailed by the institution or referee, transmitted through an approved academic portal, or mailed in the required sealed format to the business manager. The complete file must be received by August 31, 2026. Committee decisions are expected by the end of December, and the recipient is announced in January 2027.
