Lincoln-Lane Foundation Scholarship

About this scholarship

The Lincoln-Lane Foundation Scholarship helps financially needy students from Virginia’s Tidewater area attend an accredited four-year college or university in the United States. The foundation has provided more than $10 million in grants since 1928. Award amounts are individualized after the board reviews family resources, the FAFSA Student Aid Index, the school’s cost of attendance, and other financial aid. Funds may cover direct educational charges including tuition, required fees, room and board, and books, and they are paid directly to the institution. A grant may be renewed for three additional years when the student continues to demonstrate need and satisfactory academic progress. New applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The official apply page routes high-school seniors and current college students to the correct 2027-28 form. Required materials include an application essay, prior-year federal tax returns and schedules, a FAFSA Submission Summary with SAI, an official transcript with class rank and test scores when applicable, and two recommendations from people familiar with the applicant’s academic work. Selection also considers achievement, extracurricular activity, community service, work experience, and an interview when requested. Applications are due November 15, 2026.

Eligibility

• Be a resident of the Tidewater area of Virginia
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
• Apply to or currently attend an accredited four-year college or university in the United States
• Demonstrate financial need through tax information and the FAFSA Student Aid Index
• Complete the correct high-school-senior or current-college-student online application and essay
• Arrange for an official transcript and two academic recommendations to be sent directly to the foundation
• Submit the application by November 15, 2026 and interview if invited
