Life on Purpose Scholarship
Offered by Mistler Family Foundation and Greater Kansas City Community Foundation
About this scholarship
The Life on Purpose Scholarship combines up to $40,000 in college support with a four-year cohort experience centered on personal growth, relationships, and community impact. Six high-school seniors are selected each spring. Each scholar can receive $10,000 annually when renewal requirements are met, and the funding may cover tuition as well as room and board, books, fees, and experiential learning. Applicants must be seniors applying to four-year colleges, hold at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA, submit an ACT or SAT score, and arrange two recommendation letters. The program looks for students genuinely interested in developing their own potential and using their talents to foster the well-being of other people and communities. Applications are managed by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation and run from January 1 through March 1. Finalists are interviewed in early April and recipients are notified by mid-April. The official schedule also requires the incoming cohort to attend the June 10–13, 2027 retreat, so applicants should treat participation in the learning program—not only the financial award—as a central commitment.
