About this scholarship

The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship is the University of Toronto's most prestigious award for international undergraduate students, recognising outstanding academic achievement, creativity, and leadership potential. About 37 exceptional students from around the world are selected each year, and the scholarship is comprehensive — it covers tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residence support for four years of undergraduate study. The application has two stages and is not open to direct self-nomination: first, your current secondary school must nominate you through U of T's online nomination process; once nominated, you receive a private link to the Pearson application, which you complete after submitting your application for admission to at least one U of T undergraduate program. The scholarship is intended for students in their final year of secondary school (or who graduated very recently) who are starting university for the first time. Deadlines cluster in the autumn — for a recent cycle, school nominations closed in mid-October, the admission application by mid-October, and the completed Pearson application in early November. Selection is extremely competitive and looks beyond grades to creativity, impact, and leadership.

Eligibility

• Be an international student (studying outside Canada) in your final year of secondary school
• Be nominated by your secondary school via U of T's online process
• Apply for admission to at least one U of T undergraduate program
• Be starting university for the first time (not a current university student)
• Complete the Pearson application via the private link by the deadline
