Larry F. Ball Memorial Scholarship
Offered by CharitySmith Nonprofit Foundation
About this scholarship
The Larry F. Ball Memorial Scholarship is a $4,000 award for an Ohio woman pursuing a bachelor's degree at an accredited four-year college or university located in Ohio. High-school seniors entering college, current first- through fourth-year students, and nontraditional students may apply. The recipient must be a U.S. citizen, demonstrate meaningful community service, and explain how she intends to continue serving others. The direct application requires applicant and education details, a list of community involvement, a personal essay of at least 500 words, and one recommendation letter from a non-family member. The essay should tell a specific story about why service matters rather than merely repeat the activity list. The scholarship is issued once and cannot be renewed or won again. Funds are sent to the recipient's college account for tuition, books, or school fees rather than paid to the student. CharitySmith's general scholarship page still displays April 15, but the live application form states an earlier March 1 deadline; applicants should follow the direct form's earlier date. The administrator expects to make the selection by April 15 for payment in the fall semester.
