KTH Scholarship (Sweden)

About this scholarship

The KTH Scholarship is the flagship merit scholarship at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden's largest technical university, for fee-paying international master's students. It covers the full tuition fee for a one- or two-year master's programme but does not include living costs, so recipients must fund their own accommodation and living expenses. The scholarship is highly competitive — in 2025 only about 8% of admitted applicants who applied were nominated (65 out of 803). Eligibility is limited to students who are required to pay tuition fees (generally non-EU/EEA and non-Swiss citizens) and who meet the admission requirements of their chosen programme; selection focuses on academic excellence and a drive to contribute to sustainable development. The process is sequenced with admission: you must first apply for a KTH master's programme through Sweden's national portal universityadmissions.se, and then submit the separate KTH Scholarship application. The scholarship application typically opens on 1 December and closes on 15 January, with results announced in late March.
