About this scholarship
Knight-Hennessy Scholars funds graduate study across Stanford University while adding a multidisciplinary leadership-development community. For the autumn 2027 cohort, the KHS application is open through October 6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Scholars receive a fellowship covering tuition and associated fees, a stipend for living and academic expenses, and a travel stipend for one annual economy trip to and from Stanford for up to three years. New scholars also receive a one-time relocation stipend, and second- and third-year scholars may request enrichment funding. Applicants of every nationality may apply; there are no restrictions by age, field, career goal, university, or world region. Candidates must apply separately to an eligible full-time Stanford graduate degree and meet both admission processes. For 2027 entry, the first bachelor’s degree must be earned between January 2020 and September 2027; military applicants receive a two-year extension to January 2018. The KHS submission includes an online application, one-page resume, transcripts and applicable test scores, two recommendations, short answers, and an essay. A required video statement and Finalist Experience are invitation-only later stages. The separate Stanford program application is due by that program’s KHS deadline or December 1, 2026, whichever comes first; MBA applicants must use Round 1.
Eligibility
- Apply for and be admitted to an eligible full-time Stanford graduate degree beginning in 2027
- Have earned, or expect to earn, a first bachelor’s degree between January 2020 and September 2027
- If claiming the military extension, have earned the first bachelor’s degree in January 2018 or later
- Submit the KHS online application, one-page resume, transcripts, 2 recommendations, short answers, and essay
- Submit the Knight-Hennessy Scholars application by October 6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time
- Submit the separate Stanford graduate application by its KHS deadline or December 1, 2026, whichever is earlier
- For the Stanford MBA, submit the separate MBA application in Round 1
