Kids’ Chance of Virginia Scholarship
Offered by Kids’ Chance of Virginia
About this scholarship
The Kids’ Chance of Virginia Scholarship helps children of Virginia workers whose lives and earning capacity were disrupted by a workplace death, serious injury, or debilitating occupational illness. Applicants may pursue a degree full time or part time at a college, university, technical school, or vocational school. Award amounts vary with available funds, demonstrated need, and the applicant’s official cost of attendance; payments go directly to the educational institution and may support qualifying attendance costs. The 2026–27 application requests student, family, school, and injured-worker information, a brief explanation of education and career goals, the latest transcript, and at least one academic or professional recommendation. College applicants also provide their FAFSA Submission Summary or Student Aid Index. Families must document the workplace incident through a workers’ compensation claim, death certificate, or comparable verification and identify the parent’s employer. Applicants must be age 26 or younger and accepted to or planning to attend an eligible school. Recipients may submit a new application in later years because awards are made annually rather than guaranteed for an entire program. The linked Kaleidoscope page is the live application and is due December 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
