Kids’ Chance of Tennessee Scholarship
Offered by Kids’ Chance of Tennessee
About this scholarship
Kids’ Chance of Tennessee provides postsecondary scholarships to young people whose parent or guardian was seriously, catastrophically, permanently, or fatally injured in a work-related accident covered by the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Act. Applicants must be Tennessee residents between ages 16 and 25, have substantial financial need resulting from the family’s circumstances, and attend a university, college, technical college, or other postsecondary school full-time. The organization also considers academic achievement and aptitude. Awards vary because the scholarship committee evaluates individual need and the funding available for each cycle rather than promising a fixed amount. Students apply through the Kaleidoscope application linked by the official chapter page. The board reviews and approves every award. Scholarships are managed by semester: recipients must provide a transcript each semester and maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 to requalify for additional support. That continuing review makes the program potentially renewable but not an automatic multiyear award. The sponsor publishes June 1 as the annual application deadline. Candidates should prepare proof of Tennessee residency, documentation connecting the parent’s injury or death to a qualifying workers’ compensation claim, current enrollment information, academic records, and financial-need materials before beginning the form. The application is for postsecondary education, not the similarly named Tennessee K-12 school-choice program.
