Kids’ Chance of New York Scholarship

Offered by Kids’ Chance of New York

About this scholarship

Kids’ Chance of New York helps dependent children of New York workers continue their education after a parent is killed, seriously injured, or debilitated by a work-related incident. The linked 2026-27 application is open to applicants age 26 or younger who demonstrate financial need and are accepted to, enrolled in, or planning to attend a college, university, or technical school. Students may pursue their program full-time or part-time. Award amounts are not fixed: Kids’ Chance of New York makes as many awards as current resources allow and determines support through its review of each student’s need. The application requests student, family, and school information; a recent transcript; a short description of education and career goals; the parent’s employer information; and proof of the compensable injury, illness, or death, such as a workers’ compensation determination, claim number, or death certificate. College applicants also provide the FAFSA aid report or FAFSA Submission Summary with their Student Aid Index when applicable. The sponsor asks fall-semester applicants to submit by July 30 and spring-semester applicants by December 19, noting that late applications may not be reviewed until the following semester. Approved funds are sent to the postsecondary institution. Previous recipients use a shorter renewal form, but continued support is not guaranteed.
