Kids’ Chance of Michigan Scholarship

Offered by Kids’ Chance of Michigan

About this scholarship

Kids’ Chance of Michigan awards scholarships to children of Michigan workers who suffered a catastrophic injury or death in a compensable work-related accident. Awards currently range from $3,750 to $7,500 and can be used at an accredited Michigan college, community college, trade school, or vocational school for tuition and books not covered by other scholarships or grants. The sponsor’s criteria require an applicant to be a Michigan resident between ages 17 and 22 and to demonstrate financial need connected to the parent’s injury or death. The workers’ compensation claim must be compensable under Michigan law and cannot be under dispute. Applicants use the linked 2026-27 Kaleidoscope form and provide the requested family, education, financial-aid, and claim documentation. The scholarship committee reviews applications only after every required document has arrived, so students should not wait until the deadline to gather workers’ compensation evidence, their most recent transcript, and FAFSA aid information. The sponsor publishes July 15 as the fall-semester deadline and December 15 as the winter-semester deadline. Funding is sent directly to the school. An award applies to one school year or term and may depend on the recipient’s grades; students can reapply, but renewal is not automatic and remains subject to available funds.
