Kids’ Chance of Maine Scholarship

Offered by Kids’ Chance of Maine

About this scholarship

Kids’ Chance of Maine provides need-based education scholarships to dependent children of Maine workers who were killed, seriously injured, or affected by a debilitating illness in a compensable work-related incident. Current annual awards range from $1,000 to $5,000, with the final amount based on financial need and available funding. The live 2026-27 application accepts students age 26 or younger who are accepted to or planning to attend a college, university, or technical school on a full- or part-time basis. Graduate-level study is excluded on the sponsor’s program page. Applicants provide recent grades, a brief account of their education and career plans, and proof of the parent’s qualifying workers’ compensation claim, such as a Maine Workers’ Compensation Board decree, determination letter, or claim number. The application also asks for the parent’s employer information and a description of the injury, illness, or death. Students attending a two- or four-year college submit their FAFSA Student Aid Report or FAFSA Submission Summary showing the Student Aid Index. New applications are reviewed for fall and spring funding; the sponsor publishes June 30 for the fall semester and November 30 for the spring semester. Awards are paid to the educational institution and are not guaranteed to renew, so returning recipients use the separate renewal form each year.
