Kenneth E. Hasbrouck Sr. History Scholarship

Offered by Historic Huguenot Street

About this scholarship

The Kenneth E. Hasbrouck Sr. History Scholarship awards $1,000 to a student whose academic work preserves or interprets a defined part of early New York and Huguenot history. Eligible study may examine how Huguenot immigrants or their descendants affected American culture or language, or investigate Ulster County, New York history from 1600 through 1800. Work conserving artifacts and manuscripts from that period is also eligible. In each case, the applicant must demonstrate how the scholarship can help educate the public about local history in line with Historic Huguenot Street’s mission. Both undergraduate and graduate students may be considered, and Huguenot ancestry is not listed as a condition for this particular award. The scholarship applies to the spring 2027 semester. Applicants use the official 2026 packet and complete a separate form for every HHS award they seek. Required supporting material includes an official college or university transcript, two recommendations, and a statement of goals. At least one recommendation must be from a college or university professor. The institution, transcript service, or referee must send records through the approved direct-delivery methods, or they may arrive sealed by mail. All components must reach Historic Huguenot Street by August 31, 2026. The committee finalizes decisions by December 31 and announces the award in January 2027.
