About this scholarship
The Italian Government scholarships, awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), support foreign students and Italian citizens living abroad to study, train, or conduct research at Italian institutions. A standard award provides a stipend of €10,800, disbursed in instalments to an Italian bank account over the scholarship period (commonly nine months), together with collective health insurance covering illness or accident for the duration. Scholarships fund a range of options including master's degrees, higher-education courses (AFAM), PhD research, and Italian-language and culture courses, but only for study carried out on Italian territory. Applicants must be from one of the eligible countries listed on the Study in Italy portal and hold the academic qualification required for their chosen course. Applications are submitted exclusively online through the official "Study in Italy" portal by the annual deadline (typically in late March), and recipients must meet the conditions, including age limits, set out in each year's call.
