Irene and Daisy MacGregor Memorial Scholarship

Offered by National Society Daughters of the American Revolution

About this scholarship

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution awards two Irene and Daisy MacGregor Memorial Scholarships of $5,000 each to students of strong academic standing and character in specified medical pathways. Eligible medical applicants must have been accepted into or already be pursuing an approved course of study leading to the M.D. or D.O. degree at an accredited medical school. Pre-medical students and students training as physician assistants, nurse practitioners, or veterinarians do not qualify. The award also supports students accepted into or pursuing an approved graduate-level psychiatric nursing program at an accredited medical school, college, or university. When candidates are equally qualified, DAR gives preference to women. Renewal depends on maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA. The DAR national scholarship portal accepts applications every year from November 1 through January 31 at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Time. In addition to the scholarship-specific program proof, the common application requires U.S. citizenship documentation, a career-objectives statement of no more than 1,000 words, a recent transcript, a one-page list of activities and honors, and two to four recommendations. Applicants should not upload a personal photograph or handwritten material, either of which can cause disqualification. DAR chapter sponsorship is not required, and all materials must be submitted through the official online portal.
