Iota Sigma Pi Undergraduate Award for Excellence in Chemistry
Offered by Iota Sigma Pi
About this scholarship
Iota Sigma Pi’s Undergraduate Award for Excellence in Chemistry recognizes one senior woman or non-binary chemistry student at an accredited four-year college or university. The national award includes $1,000, a certificate, and a waiver of Iota Sigma Pi dues for one year; membership is not required to be nominated. This is a faculty-nominated award rather than a student self-application. A faculty member at the candidate’s current institution must assemble and email one nomination dossier, and each academic department may put forward only one candidate. The single-file dossier includes the official cover sheet, an academic history and transcripts from every institution attended, and a personal statement describing the student’s college activities and plans after graduation. At least two faculty recommendations addressing the candidate’s chemistry studies and accomplishments are also required. Official transcripts may be sent independently by a registrar, while unofficial transcripts are accepted when transmitted by a faculty member. All dossier components, recommendations, and transcripts must reach the Director of Student Awards by February 15 each year. Iota Sigma Pi announces the recipient by April 15 and coordinates presentation of the award with the winner’s department. Applicants should follow the sponsor’s email-submission instructions on the official award page rather than a commercial scholarship form.
