Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes Johnson-O’Malley Scholarship
Offered by The Chickasaw Nation
About this scholarship
The Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes Johnson-O’Malley Scholarship is a $300 one-time award administered through the Chickasaw Nation’s higher-education program. It is reserved for incoming college freshmen who attended a public school with a Johnson-O’Malley program. Two awards are made for the fall term—one to a male student and one to a female student. Unlike the Chickasaw Nation General Scholarship, this competition requires a letter of recommendation and a 500-word essay in addition to the higher-education program’s academic documents. Applicants must be Chickasaw citizens and must be entering an accredited college or university. The official portal normally requires a current transcript and class schedule, and the applicant should complete any additional questions or uploads tied to this scholarship. The award is offered only in the fall application cycle, which runs from July 15 through September 15. Students may request other Chickasaw Nation higher-education benefits for which they independently qualify, but this scholarship is evaluated as its own award. Its fixed amount is partial funding and should be budgeted as a small contribution toward education costs rather than as a tuition scholarship.
