Imperial College President's PhD Scholarships
Offered by Imperial College London
About this scholarship
The President's PhD Scholarships at Imperial College London — one of the world's leading universities for science, engineering, medicine, and business — fund the most outstanding new doctoral students, regardless of nationality. The scholarship provides full tuition fees and a generous stipend aligned with the UKRI London rate (£22,780 per year at the 2025-26 rate) plus a £1,000 per year consumables fund, for a 3.5-year PhD place. It is a highly competitive scheme with higher-than-usual eligibility requirements, seeking candidates with excellent academic performance and strong research potential. A key practical step is that you must first make contact with an academic at Imperial who agrees to supervise your research project; there is no separate scholarship application form — you submit your application for PhD admission through the online admissions system, and your department puts you forward for the scholarship based on academic merit and potential. The scheme is only open to new PhD applicants (current Imperial PhD students are not eligible), and applications are considered at three points across the academic year, with an early round around November and the main round around mid-January.
