ICCR India Scholarship Schemes (A2A)
Offered by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India
About this scholarship
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), an arm of India's Ministry of External Affairs, runs one of the largest government scholarship portfolios in the world — awarding more than 3,000 scholarships a year under around 21 different schemes to foreign students from about 180 countries, for undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD study at Indian universities. The scholarships are broadly comprehensive, covering tuition, a monthly stipend, a house-rent allowance, a contingency/book grant, and medical benefits; some schemes also provide return air travel, while under others students fund their own airfare. All applications are made through ICCR's "Admissions to Alumni" (A2A) online portal, which lists the eligible schemes, the empanelled Indian universities and their courses, and the scheme guidelines. A candidate may submit only one application per academic year (multiple applications lead to rejection) and can list up to five course/university options, though final admission depends on meeting the relevant university's criteria. ICCR scholarships are valid only for admission to Indian state/central universities or affiliated, recognised institutions listed on the portal. Specific eligibility, age limits, and deadlines vary by scheme, so applicants should consult the A2A portal for the scheme that fits them.
