Hyacinth Scarlett Music Memorial Scholarship
Offered by The Hyacinth Scarlett Foundation and Jamaica Nurses Association of Florida, Inc.
About this scholarship
The Hyacinth Scarlett Music Memorial Scholarship supports students in the United States or Jamaica who combine postsecondary plans in nursing, music, or a related field with active musical service to their communities. The Hyacinth Scarlett Foundation administers the program with the Jamaica Nurses Association of Florida and awards two $500 scholarships annually. Both graduating high-school seniors and current undergraduate or graduate students may apply. Every applicant must have at least a 3.0 overall GPA and submit a one-page, double-spaced essay explaining how they currently use music—such as choir participation, instrumental performance, or music therapy—to contribute to their community. College applicants provide an unofficial transcript and one signed recommendation from a professor or director who can attest to their community work. High-school applicants provide the transcript and a signed recommendation from a leader or director. The sponsor’s scholarship page contains the submission form itself, so students can begin the application without navigating elsewhere. Materials are due April 23 each year. Awards are presented during the association’s annual Nurses’ Week service. The sponsor also publishes recent recipients, including 2026 awardees in high school, music study, and nursing, confirming that the program remains active and serves both eligible countries.
