About this scholarship
The Heartfelt Dreams Foundation Academic Nursing Scholarship awards $5,000 to a hospital-based cardiac care nurse or nursing student preparing for a career in cardiac care. The Foundation created the award to strengthen nursing support for people with cardiovascular disorders, particularly patients with congenital heart defects and their families. The official page contains the live application form, so applicants do not need to navigate to a separate portal. Candidates provide contact information, their current nursing degree and school, graduation date, hospital or employer information, and professional title. Two substantive written responses ask why the applicant wants to advance a career in cardiac nursing and how the applicant intends to care for patients with cardiovascular disorders, including congenital heart defects, while interacting with patients’ families. A current resume in DOC, DOCX, or PDF format is required and may be no larger than 20 MB. The public form includes fields for a hospital address, reflecting the program’s focus on hospital-based cardiac care; nursing students pursuing that path are also expressly invited. A Foundation committee reviews the competitive applications. The 2026 application is open through September 30, and the winner is scheduled to be announced in October 2026.
Eligibility
- Be a hospital-based cardiac care nurse or a nursing student pursuing a career in cardiac care

- Explain why you want to advance your career in cardiac nursing
- Explain how you will care for cardiovascular and congenital-heart-defect patients and work with their families
- Upload a current resume in DOC, DOCX, or PDF format
- Complete the embedded official application form
- Submit by September 30, 2026
