HDR One Water Institute Scholarship

Offered by American Water Works Association and HDR

About this scholarship

The HDR One Water Institute Scholarship provides $10,000 to a graduate student whose degree will support a career as a consultant in the water industry. Administered through the American Water Works Association Water Equation program, the scholarship reflects HDR One Water Institute’s focus on collaborative research and water innovation. The current 2027-2028 application is open through November 6, 2026. Applicants do not have to belong to AWWA, but the common program rule requires permanent residency in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. The scholarship is merit based, so the academic record and GPA form an important part of committee review. Applicants should use the AwardSpring matching portal to demonstrate how their graduate education, water-sector interests, and career direction align with consulting work that advances integrated water solutions. Any requested recommendation must be received before the deadline and should come from a faculty member, dean, or professional familiar with the applicant’s academic or professional preparation; personal recommendations are not accepted as recognized references. Funds are paid directly to the recipient’s institution and may support tuition, books, laboratory fees, laboratory equipment, and conference registration. They cannot be used as a living stipend, for rent, or for per diem expenses. AWWA does not forward incomplete or late applications to the review committee, so applicants should confirm every portal component before submitting.
