HBKU Graduate Scholarship (Qatar)

About this scholarship

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a research university within Qatar Foundation in Doha, offers scholarships to graduate (master's and PhD) students that are assessed automatically during the admissions process — there is no separate scholarship application. A graduate scholarship may include a tuition waiver that reduces or covers tuition, and a stipend paid directly to the student; students who receive a stipend are generally also given a tuition waiver. International students are additionally provided a single round-trip airfare during their candidature — one inbound ticket when they start and one outbound ticket upon graduation. Scholarships are awarded on a merit or financial-need basis subject to available funds, are reviewed annually, and depend on academic progress, so they are not guaranteed. There is an important restriction: full-time professionals, and those working more than 40% of full-time hours, are not eligible for stipends. To be considered, applicants simply complete the HBKU graduate admission application by the deadline and meet the programme's entry requirements. Because HBKU spans fields from science and engineering to Islamic studies, public policy, and humanities, the scholarships are open across disciplines.

Eligibility

• Meet the programme's academic entry and English requirements
• Be assessed automatically for a merit/need-based scholarship (no separate application)
• Not be a full-time professional or working over 40% of full-time hours (for a stipend)
• Maintain academic progress (scholarships are reviewed annually)
