Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships (GOI-IES)
Offered by Higher Education Authority (HEA) — Government of Ireland
About this scholarship
The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships (GOI-IES), administered by the Higher Education Authority, attract talented students from outside the EU/EEA to study for one year at an eligible Irish higher-education institution. Each scholarship provides a €10,000 stipend for one year of full-time study at NFQ level 9 or 10 (master's, postgraduate diploma, or PhD year), and the host institution is required to provide a full tuition fee waiver for that year — making the package effectively fully funded for the scholarship year. Around 60 awards are made annually. Applicants must first secure admission (a conditional or final offer) to an eligible Irish institution through that institution's normal admission process, then apply through the GOI-IES online portal, uploading proof of admission and two references. Eligibility requires a domicile of origin outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, and the UK; Russian and Belarusian nationals and previous GOI-IES holders are not eligible. The annual deadline falls around mid-March (it was 12 March 2026 for the 2026 round).
