The Georgia Southern International Diversity Scholarship is a competitive scholarship for new international students beginning in the fall term. Georgia Southern states that the scholarship waives the out-of-state fee charged to international and out-of-state students and is valued at approximately $13,000 per year, saving selected students about $52,000 over four years. It is partial funding because the waiver lowers tuition and fee costs but does not cover full tuition, remaining fees, housing, meals, health insurance, books, travel, or personal expenses. Eligible applicants are new international freshmen or transfer students in F-1 status who have been officially accepted for enrollment before scholarship review. The scholarship is not available to students beginning in spring or summer and is not open to currently enrolled international students. Selection considers good academic standing, financial need, and commitment to the university and community. Applicants complete the undergraduate admission application and the scholarship application, including a 500-word essay about educational intent, service, financial need, and plans after returning home. The priority deadline is February 1.

Eligibility

• Be a new international freshman or transfer student in F-1 visa status
• Begin at Georgia Southern University in the fall term
• Be officially accepted for enrollment before scholarship committee review
• Demonstrate good academic standing
• Demonstrate financial need
• Show commitment to the university and community
• Submit the International Diversity Scholarship application by February 1
• Attach the required 500-word essay
• Maintain an overall 2.5 GPA for renewal if awarded
