Georgia Military College State Service Scholarship
Offered by Georgia Military College and the State of Georgia
About this scholarship
The Georgia Military College State Service Scholarship provides a two-year college package valued by GMC at $56,000 for qualified Georgia residents who enroll as full-time Corps of Cadets members and serve part time in the Georgia Army or Air National Guard. Current official materials say it covers tuition, fees, room, board, uniforms, and a stipend for books and supplies; recipients also receive military drill pay. Up to 42 new awards may be made each year, depending on state appropriations. The program is a substantial service commitment, not ordinary unrestricted aid. A recipient must qualify for enlistment, complete the applicable basic and technical training, live on GMC’s Milledgeville campus, participate fully in the Corps of Cadets and physical-fitness program, and serve at least one weekend each month plus an annual training period while attending college. Applicants need Georgia residency, regular GMC admission, a minimum 2.5 high school or college GPA, and either an 800 combined critical-reading-and-math SAT or 17 ACT composite. They must demonstrate character and citizenship through a school administrator’s recommendation and obtain nomination from a Georgia state representative or senator. The official program page says applications are accepted for new terms other than summer. Students should use that page’s scholarship application and Cadet Admissions instructions; because the linked downloadable form carries an older cycle label, applicants should confirm the current form directly with the Cadet Recruiter before submitting sensitive information.
