Gene and Donna Mallak Memorial Scholarship
Offered by Saginaw Community Foundation
About this scholarship
The Gene and Donna Mallak Memorial Scholarship supports Saginaw County college students pursuing business-related undergraduate or graduate education. Applicants must already be current college students, have at least a 2.5 GPA, and enroll part time or full time at Saginaw Valley State University, Davenport University, Delta College, Northwood University, or Central Michigan University. The fund honors Gene and Donna Mallak, whose work, entrepreneurship, and educational experiences shaped their commitment to helping their daughter and future students pursue college goals. The official fund page does not list a fixed amount, so the award is recorded as varying rather than repeating an unverified directory estimate. Selection is evenly balanced among leadership, work experience, and a scholarship-specific essay, making professional history and a thoughtful written response especially important. Students apply through the Saginaw Community Foundation common portal, which can match a single submission with more than 260 scholarship funds. The 2027 application opens November 1, 2026 and is due February 12, 2027. Applicants also upload a transcript, identify an unrelated reference, complete the Foundation questionnaire, and follow the portal instructions for the required special attachment. Scholarship recipients are normally notified in writing by mid-May.
