GEM Fellowship
Offered by The National GEM Consortium
About this scholarship
The National GEM Consortium (GEM) works to increase the participation of underrepresented groups in master's and doctoral STEM education, by matching talented students with both university funding and industry sponsorship. A GEM Fellowship provides full tuition and fees plus an annual stipend — jointly funded by a sponsoring GEM Member University and a GEM Employer Member — along with paid summer internships at the sponsoring employer, which often lead to strong career pipelines in engineering, physical sciences, and life sciences. To be eligible you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident at the time of application, and be a senior, a master's student, or a graduate of an accredited engineering or applied-science program, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0. The application process is distinctive: applicants apply to a minimum of three GEM Member University STEM graduate departments (seniors and bachelor's holders apply for graduate admission at the same time as submitting GEM materials), with a deadline of January 15 or the relevant department deadline, whichever is earlier. MS Fellows intern with a GEM Employer Member the summer immediately following selection, and PhD Fellows intern at least once.
