Garcia Family Scholarship
Offered by American Floral Endowment
About this scholarship
The Garcia Family Scholarship supports college students preparing for the business side of the floral industry. It is intended for students at a two-year college or juniors and seniors at a four-year institution whose career focus is the marketing or distribution of floral products. Relevant paths include floral retail and wholesale, manufacturing, product distribution, and ownership or operation of a floral business. American Floral Endowment administers the award through one common application that lets a student select up to six matching AFE scholarships. Applicants need at least a 2.0 GPA, must pursue a floriculture- or horticulture-related career, and must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or resident or attend an accredited institution in either country. The common packet requires an online application, a resume, exactly two recommendation letters, preferably one from a teacher and one from an employer, and a recent transcript that may be unofficial. AFE states that its awards range from $500 to $5,000; the Garcia amount changes annually and was $3,400 in 2025, so the directory maximum is not guaranteed. Applications reopen in 2027 and are due May 1.
