Fred Rogers Scholars Program
Offered by Saint Vincent College and the Fred Rogers Institute
About this scholarship
Saint Vincent College’s Fred Rogers Scholars Program combines a renewable scholarship with research, service, mentoring, and professional development inspired by the work of Fred Rogers. Each Scholar receives $2,500 per year in addition to Saint Vincent merit aid, creating a possible four-year program value of $10,000. The program is coordinated with the Fred Rogers Institute, the official home of the Fred Rogers Archive. Scholars study archival materials, collaborate on Institute initiatives, and engage with professionals working in child and youth development, children’s media, music, health, and related fields. High school seniors must be applying to or already admitted to Saint Vincent College and have at least a 3.50 quality-point average. Applicants from every major are welcome. Although an interest in early learning, children’s media, and Rogers’s work is central to selection, students do not have to commit to a child-focused career. Candidates first complete the College admission application, then submit the separate Fred Rogers Scholars form and identify the program in the required sections. Renewal depends on maintaining strong academic performance and active participation in the program’s collaborative research and service expectations. The official page provides a current application but no closing date, so prospective students should complete admission and the program form early and confirm timing with the program director.
