Frank J. Vigilante Scholarship
Offered by Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans
About this scholarship
The Frank J. Vigilante Scholarship is a current 2026 award from the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans for Illinois students of Italian extraction who combine financial need with strong academic achievement. Each scholarship may be worth up to $5,000 as a one-time award, and the official application says students may apply again in a future year. Applicants must already be admitted to or enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education. A complete submission includes the signed application, proof of admission or enrollment, a current school transcript, a current photograph, and an essay of no more than 500 words explaining how the scholarship will help fulfill the applicant’s personal and professional goals. Two recommendation letters are encouraged. The completed form and every supporting item must be combined into one PDF and emailed to jcc@jccia.com; JCCIA warns that incomplete applications or submissions split across files may be denied. The 2026 submission window runs from June 1 through November 1. Recipients are expected to be notified by December 1 and must attend the JCCIA December Christmas party for the award presentation. Selection considers Italian heritage, demonstrated need, academic record, the essay, and overall application quality.
