Frank E. Rogers Agricultural Scholarship
Offered by Community Foundation of Greater New Britain
About this scholarship
The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain administers the Frank E. Rogers Agricultural Scholarship for students connected to the Carl M. Small Regional Agricultural Science and Technology Center at Southington High School in Connecticut. Applicants may be graduating seniors in the Center’s current class or previous graduates of the program. They must pursue a full-time associate or bachelor’s degree in agriculture at an accredited college or university; the sponsor’s current rules exclude animal-studies programs. Candidates need a cumulative B-minus or 80 average, must demonstrate financial need, and are evaluated for being hard-working, determined, ambitious, considerate of others, and able to work well with others. Prior recipients who continue toward an eligible college agriculture degree may compete again. The scholarship appears in the Foundation’s online portal, which uses an eligibility quiz to match students to relevant funds. Most applications require a transcript, résumé, one or more recommendations, and a short essay. The standard scholarship cycle opens January 15 and closes March 15 each year. The Foundation publishes its next scholarship directory in late December. Because the current sponsor material does not guarantee a fixed award value for the coming cycle, this record reports the amount as variable instead of adopting the directory’s projected $3,500 figure.
