Francis Ouimet Scholarship
Offered by Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund
About this scholarship
The Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund provides need-based college and trade-school aid to students who have worked at Massachusetts golf courses. The current 2027–28 application is open. Official Fund materials say the average total award now exceeds $40,000 over four years and that some scholars receive as much as $80,000, but each recipient’s actual amount is determined from certified financial need and is reviewed annually. The scholarship may be renewed for up to four years for full-time study at an accredited undergraduate college, university, community college, junior college, or trade school. Candidates must have completed at least two years of service to golf at a Massachusetts course, including work such as caddying, pro-shop operations, or course-superintendent operations. High school seniors and students already in undergraduate or trade study may apply. Selection considers academic achievement, leadership potential, school and community activity, essays, interview performance, motivation, character, integrity, golf service, and recommendations. Applicants first use the direct portal to request access; Ouimet staff review basic qualifications and email the personalized 2027–28 application link. The online application, three essays, photo, transcript, and three recommendations are due December 1, 2026. Interviews occur in March or April. The CSS Profile, FAFSA Submission Summary, Spring 2027 transcript, and college financial-aid letter are due June 30, 2027. Applicants with no demonstrated need may receive honorary status and a nominal award instead.
