Folded Flag Foundation College and Trade School Scholarship

Offered by The Folded Flag Foundation

About this scholarship

The Folded Flag Foundation provides need-based education grants to spouses and children of U.S. military members or government employees who died through hostile action or an accident related to U.S. combat operations. Spouses may apply at any age, while children must be younger than 26. For college, graduate, technical, and trade-school study, fall and spring support is capped at $7,500 per year and summer support at $5,000. Eligible expenses can include tuition, fees, books, on- or off-campus living costs, childcare, tutoring, test preparation, and career-preparation services. Applications open April 1 and are accepted through May 1 or until available funding is fully allocated, making early submission important. The package documents the applicant’s relationship to the fallen family member, the qualifying death and service, enrollment, projected educational costs, and need. Postsecondary applicants also provide their Chapter 33 Fry Scholarship or Chapter 35 Dependents’ Educational Assistance eligibility letter. Returning recipients reapply annually, though core relationship and service documents can remain on file. The maximum lifetime support per person is $80,000. The Foundation’s current school-year cycle is closed; this listing uses the official recurring May 1 deadline and links to the seasonal application instructions rather than an obsolete third-party form.
