Floyd E. McDonald Scholarship

Offered by Southwestern Association of Forensic Scientists

About this scholarship

The Southwestern Association of Forensic Scientists created the Floyd E. McDonald Scholarship to encourage students preparing for careers in forensic science. The official program page currently provides a downloadable application and states that the selected recipient receives $1,000. Applicants must be entering the junior or senior year of a Bachelor of Science program at a U.S. college or university and remain enrolled at least half time, defined as six semester hours. Their major must be chemistry, biology, or another natural science connected to an intended forensic-science career, and their cumulative GPA must be at least 3.0. Relatives of members of the SWAFS Board or Scholarship/Grant Committee cannot compete. The application asks for academic and contact information, forensic-career goals, college records, and the supporting materials identified in the form. SWAFS’s scholarship page also documents recipients through 2025, confirming that the program continued beyond the older revision date printed on its rules. The sponsor has not posted a closing date on the public page, so this record does not adopt the directory’s projected April 2027 date. Students should download the live official form, confirm the current submission date and delivery instructions with SWAFS, and apply through the sponsor rather than a third-party directory.
