Florida State University Mores Scholarship
Offered by Florida State University
About this scholarship
Florida State University’s Mores Scholarship is a $12,000 merit award for selected incoming first-year students who distinguish themselves through the university’s holistic admission review. “Mores,” the Latin word associated with character, is one of the three torches on the FSU seal. Selection emphasizes strong character and the potential to make a positive contribution to the university community rather than a separately published GPA or test-score cutoff. There is no additional scholarship application: every first-year applicant is automatically considered when FSU evaluates the admission file. The award is distributed over eight semesters, with $1,500 posted at the beginning of each fall and spring term. It may be combined with other merit awards offered at admission and, for eligible Florida residents, with the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. Because scholarship funds are limited and the university does not publish a separate Mores deadline, FSU encourages prospective students to submit a complete first-year admission application early. Recipients must follow the university’s published renewal requirements throughout enrollment. Students should use the official FSU admission application rather than a third-party form, and should verify their term of entry, admission materials, and university deadlines directly with Admissions before applying.
